Product Overview
In this 20th century classic, G. K. Chesterton uses his extraordinary literary skills to craft an exposition and defense of St. Francis of Assisi as “a Lover” of both God and men. In a delightful manner, Chesterton shows how Francis not only heralds but also activates the awakening of the world from the “long spell” of the Dark Ages. He reveals a Francis who “walked the world like the Pardon of God,” illustrating how men and women “could be reconciled not only to God but to nature and, most difficult of all, to themselves.” Chesterton promotes St. Francis as the Troubadour chosen by Jesus Himself to rebuild His Church and, in so doing, founded a movement that would help revive a whole culture with the love, ever ancient, ever new, of its Creator and Lord.
