This is a new English translation of the Codex Iuris Canonici promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1983. This new translation was prepared by the Canon Law Society of America, based on current scholarship and canonical experience.
This edition presents the Latin and English texts of the canons in parallel columns. Also now included are the fontes (sources) of the individual canons, two Appendices with the Latin and English texts of the new laws for the Causes of Saints, Divinus perfectionis Magister and Pope John Paul II's apostolic constitution Pastor bonus on the Roman curia issued in 1988. A detailed index and tables of corresponding canons for the Code of Canon Law and the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches of 1990 are also presented.
